How does a self-storage unit work?
There are many self-storage facilities that have been making themselves known all over the country.
They are becoming a more popular option for those who are looking to downsize their homes, move, or live in an apartment which doesn’t have much storage space.
Unit sizes can vary vastly, ranging from a small wardrobe size to the size of a large garage. Most units are accessible through driving right up to the door, whereas others may be on the second or third floor. Businesses sometimes use storage units to keep old files and records.
How it works
Most self-storage companies will use a month-to-month lease for their customers. This provides them with the options of having more time to move belongs if they are relocating house, or even give the option of storing things for months or years.
It is possible that a security deposit will be asked should the individual cause damage to the unit in any way or they fail to pay the rent.
Often, storage units will have security cameras placed at each cornered and down the isles of the facility.
What cannot be stored
It is not possible to store live animals in your storage unit. Any flammable gases and liquids are not allowed either. There are some companies who will not allow paint or paint cleaners, so it is important to enquire whether or not there are any limitations to what can and cannot be stored in their unit.
